About a month ago, we hosted the First Annual Green Gates Peanut Boil. We had lots of fun with our small bunch of family and friends, and boy did we have peanuts!
We found this inflatable cat at Walgreens and thought Grace would love it! Grace was also excited about the new pot Jake bought for boiling...she did want to know, however, if we were planning on cooking her. Silly girl! At the bottom, you can see the stack o' peanuts.
I giggled when I walked outside Saturday and saw this...Daddy Pot, Mama Pot, Baby Pot...you can tell I work with small children!
This first to arrive were the Davis'! Lauren brought Some Pumpkin Spice & Mexican Hot Chocolate cupcakes...uniced. We visited for a while before we sent Brian out with Jake and us girls made icing. Yummy! Its hard to tell from the picture, but the marshmellows are miniature...like the kind you find instant hot chocolate. It was very hard to keep our hands out of that bag!
It wasn't too long after that that Nanny, Michael & Nate pulled into the driveway with Aunt Brenda, Jessica & Grace not far behind them! Grace had a great time staying with Aunt Brenda & Jessica! This kids had a good time playing around the giant cat and the jeep. You can see "Larry" (Jessica) and Pop in the bottom picture.
Before too long, the sun was setting and Olivia and Kelly arrived. I think this about the same time that the some of the first of the peanuts was ready. In the pictures: Lauren dipping salty peanut water out of a cooking pot/Jake, Olivia and Kelly chatting/Aunt Brenda watching Grace and Nate run around.
This set of pictures were taken towards the end of boiling. The peanuts in the cooler were the last to come out. Thats Jake, Brian, and Nanny doing some cleaning up. Even Jane came down and enjoyed the festivities...she busied herself with eating the tossed shells. That's a lot of salt folks...a lot. We actually had to make a last minute run to the grocery store to get more salt.
We had a wondeful time and are looking forward to next year!
