State Fair 2010

This past weekend, the little Lancaster bunch headed to Downtown Jackson for some annual fun at the State Fair. Grace is finally tall enough to ride some of the rides on her own and not ride in a stroller. She was so excited as we headed down Amite Street (which has an AMAZING view of the fair), Grace was so excited! She started yelling, "I want to go there! I want to go there! Moma, I want to go there!" We parked as quickly as possible and began the walk...
We first headed to the Trade Mart building to check out the antique cars, see the booths and buy some Mississippi honey! Then we started down the strip. We came to the kids area first so stopped and let Grace ride a few rides. She decided to ride the Wacky Worm first, but she wasn't quite tall enough to ride alone so said I had to ride with her. She was pretty brave...it was a mini roller coaster, had a couple of quick turns and a drop. She rode the spider swings next, and that was not a good choice...was very unhappy about it. But she recovered quickly and wanted to ride the worm again.

After the rides, it was quite hot outside so we decided to walk some more and find something to drink! But first, we had to stop and play a game...

We finally got a cold drink and some munchies! Since it was hot we decided to go check out the livestock then head home. While we were looking at the various animals participating in competitions, a very nice young man asked if Grace wanted to pet a cow. He let her pet of his family's cows. He then told us there was a children's area where they could hold some baby animals.

We saw lots more animals and Grace got to hold a baby chick. She tried her hand at milking a "cow." On the way out we saw a horse that had just had a cool bath and saw some sleeping pigs...one was very friendly and wanted to play.
Despite the heat, we had a great time and Grace didn't want to leave. We were driving on 55 this afternoon heading to supper and we passed the coliseum. Grace got very excited all over and blurted out, "I want to go the there, let's go there! I want to go there! No, let's go there!"
