Grace made it through her first week of school quite well! Each day she gets go to a different special area class, since we have five special area classes: art, computer, library, music and p.e. She has art on Wednesdays, which means I get to be her teacher for 50 minutes a week. I was a little nervous about how this would go. Even though she did have a small fit at one point in the middle of class, it actually went quite well. Her classmates were so friendly. I loved how instead of calling me "Mrs. Lancaster", they called me "Grace's mom." That just makes me giggle.
See that not-so-happy face? This is post-tiny meltdown. She was the last one to finish her coloring assignment due to said meltdown. Me: "Grace, show me what you are working on." Grace: "Hmph, this!"
After a little encouragement, she decided to finish the project to join her classmates at the blocks centers.
Grace at the wooden blocks center. They would build something tall, knock it down, giggle and start over.
Grace and her friends at the bristle blocks center. She has found a very sweet friend already.
Her teacher is using Toy Story for the inspiration for their classroom this year. They are keeping up with good behavior by "building" a potato head. When they have made good behavior choices, they get to add a piece (eye, ear, nose, mouth, etc.) to their "potato." Grace got to put a mouth on hers Friday!
