Hammin' it up in Huntsville...

This past weekend we journeyed to Huntsville, AL for the Huntsville Hamfest and to hang out with the Farris gang (they were attending the Hamfest too). We left as soon as I got off work Friday and we arrived around ten that night...after several bathroom/fuel stops. Grace and I stopped by Kellye's room and visited with Kellye, Luke and Summer for a little while before heading to bed for the night. Saturday morning we all headed across the street to the Hamfest. Jake immediately ran into half a dozen people he knew when we walked in the door, Phil headed to get his new Jupiter and Grandad wanted to go browse so Kellye, the kids and I took a quick look around. I bought a very unique pair of earrings and a necklace. The lady that crafted them uses recycled electronic parts. Even her packaging was recycled! We soon left the guys to play and ventured around downtown Hunstsville. After luch at a local Mexican place, we took the kids to Early Works Children's Museum. It was such a neat, hands on place. We had so much fun! Afterwards, we stopped by Gigi's cupcakes and got a treat then headed back to the hotel to let the kids swim. But, just as we got in the pool, Kellye spotted lightning and we had to get out. The guys returned from the Hamsfest and five hot, hungry adults and three tired, starving children headed for supper.
Sunday came ringing right on in...literally. Around 5:30 Sunday morning, everyone was startled awake by the hotel's fire alarm. And again at 5:45. Needless to say, we all slept a little late after we went back to sleep. We packed up and drove a short distance to the US Space and Rocket Center. I wish we had had all day to stay there. We had so much fun!
It was another wonderful weekend spent with the Farris'.
